We mobilize communities to advance lasting solutions and measurable change.

By definition, a nonprofit organization exists to serve a social or charitable purpose instead of making a profit. Without the group of volunteers and employees who continue to assist our organization, we would not be able to fulfill our social or charitable mission. Our volunteers, partners, and community members are the reason we can help our neighbors in each of the 23 communities we support.

At Fox Valley United Way, we mobilize, we partner, and we invest. We are committed to ensuring that all families in our communities have equitable access to opportunities and resources that support positive health, education, and financial outcomes. How do we do this? We mobilize the collective power of community resources to advance lasting solutions and measurable change for the most urgent issues. We partner with local organizations to build a strong and vibrant community, and we invest in essential programs that support school readiness, healthy lifestyles, and positive financial outcomes.

We are proud of our volunteers here at Fox Valley United Way. Recently, we had the opportunity to hear some of their testimonials about what Fox Valley United Way means to them, and why several volunteers keep returning year after year. LaDonna Carr said she continues to return because we help others “either monetarily or through Holiday Assistance with food, clothes, and toys for young people who wouldn’t have those things during the holidays. Helping out families… I can’t say enough; that’s who I am, that’s what I want to be a part of.” Volunteer Jenny Everhart mentioned that she continues to return “to hear the stories and see the appreciation in the families. To know that during the holidays, people can have excitement to look forward to and focus on their families in a time that may be extremely rough financially.”

Our volunteers highlighted their favorite parts of their experience with Fox Valley United Way so far. Jenny mentioned that her favorite experience was working at a Top Golf Fundraiser, where she saw sponsors, staff, committee members, businesses, and families all come together to support our mission. LaDonna shared how she loves to see things come full circle and witness people pass on the help they once received. “Some people don’t realize that United Way touches every aspect of someone’s life, from birth to elderly,” said LaDonna. Community member Jason Fritz reflected on his fondest memory: being able to provide for a family during the holidays through a program he was a recipient of many years before.

When speaking about Fox Valley United Way, Jenny said people may be unaware that “everyone involved in Fox Valley United Way is here for the right reasons. Not just because it’s the right thing to do, but because they are passionate about the mission and the clients served by all of the things Fox Valley United Way does.” In reality, our volunteers are among those who serve our community for all of the right reasons.
